Alice, Rutledge Akıl Hastanesi'nden taburcu edilmiş ve Londra'da bir psikiyatristin denetimine bırakılmıştır. Ne var ki ailesinin trajik ölümüyle ilgili eski hatırlarından kurtulabilmiş değildir. Hastane'den ayrıldıktan sonra gördüğü halüsinasyonlar ve yaşadığı içsel çatışmalar dayanılmaz bir boyuta ulaşmış ve sonunda Harikalar Diyarı'na dönerek biraz olsun rahatlamaya karar vermiştir.
