Hiç kuşkusuz geniş bant bağlantının internet kullanıcılarına en büyük hediyesi dosya paylaşım ve indirme(download) yöneticisi programlar. İşte Bittorent programı bu iki vazgeçilmez uygulamayı bir araya getirerek hem internet kullanıcılarının Torrent ağlarından dosya inirmesini sağlıyor, hem de innDirmeye çalıştığınız dosyaları yönetmenize izin vererek başıboşluğu ve düzensizliği ortadan kaldırıyor. Basit bir tarifle BitTorrent PRO programı hem BearShare P2P uygulamasının sağlamlığına, hem de Internet Download Manager yükleme yöneticisi uygulamasının hızına sahip.

BitTorrent is a protocol for distributing files. It identifies content by URL and is designed to integrate seamlessly with the Web. Its advantage over plain HTTP is that when multiple downloads of the same file happen concurrently, the downloaders upload to each other, making it possible for the file source to support very large numbers of downloaders with only a modest increase in its load.

Tüm bu özelliklerine rağmen indirmeye çalıştığınız dosyaya en az bir kullanıcının bağlanarak indirmesine izin vermek zorundasınız. Aksi takdirde indirme hızınızda büyük ölçüde kısıntı yapılıyor. Ayrıca programın entegre bir Torrent arama özelliği yok. Bunun anlamı Torrent linklerini internetten arayarak bulmanız gerekiyor. Ayrıca yazılım, çalışması için Java Runtime Environment'e ihtiyaç duyuyor.
