[bDeadline 10.1.17.4 - Complete Release Notes General Improvements - Allow Deadline Workers to use 'Workers Excluded From Limit' feature in Limit creation panel for limits with AWS exclusive UBL products selected (Autodesk + Renderman). - Changed repository settings importer to skip importing settings that already exist instead of failing. - Fixed incorrect help text for SetUserForUserGroup in the deadline command. Scripting Improvements - The Standalone Python API is now Python 2/3 compatible. Web Service Improvements - Removed the support for executing a non-script command. Application Plugin Improvements 3ds Max - Added Corona 3, 4, 5, and 6 parameters to 3dsMax. Corona Standalone - Added support for Corona 6 Standalone. Houdini - Now creating Redshift output paths before rendering in the Houdini plugin. Nuke - Fixed an import issue when trying to import re.Match. Deadlineis a hassle-free administration and compute management toolkit for Windows, Linux, and macOS based render farms. It supports over 80 different content creation applications out of the box. It offers a world of flexibility and a wide-range of management options for render farms and compute clusters of all sizes, and allows users the freedom to easily access any combination of on-premise or cloud-based resources for their rendering and processing needs. Deadline 10is the latest update of our easy to use compute management solution. This update adds native integration to the AWS Cloud to enable customers to expand their render farms - whether it exists on-premise, purely on the cloud, or a hybrid of both - simply and securely. To ensure that all the appropriate files are available in the cloud, Deadline 10 synchronizes with local asset servers and manages the data transfer before rendering begins, tagging accounts and instances for cost tracking. With flexible licensing options, customers can purchase software licenses from the Thinkbox Marketplace, deploy existing licenses, or leverage a combination of the two to grow render farms elastically from the AWS Cloud. The Deadline Workers can now automatically switch between Floating Licensing and Usage-Based Licensing. In addition, there is now an option for unlimited 3rd party Usage-Based Licensing when configuring a 3rd party Limit. The new Deadline Remote Connection Server application is a drop-in replacement for the Deadline Proxy Server application and offers better performance and scalability. All settings in the Deadline configuration file can now be overridden using environment variables for added flexibility. To enhance security, a new Execute Command Allow List option has been added to Remote Administration, allowing administrators to pick from a list of pre-defined commands to execute remotely, while removing the ability to type in arbitrary commands. This new feature is optional, and enabled by default. AWS Thinkbox Deadline Webinar Series AWS Thinkboxhelps creative studios and visual artists scale your creativity on premises, hybrid, or on the cloud. AWS Thinkbox develops Deadline, a high-volume compute management software application that helps studios optimize and scale their compute resources, as well as a series of 3D plugins and applications that help artists and studios tackle complex looks and tasks. By providing a conduit to AWS and near-limitless compute capacity, AWS Thinkbox helps creative professionals scale up and down elastically while maintaining artistic control of your project. AWS Thinkbox tools have been at the core of award winning projects, music videos, commercials, and hundreds of hours of creative content spanning film, broadcast, commercial, marketing, games, and web content. In addition to Media & Entertainment, AWS Thinkbox tools are used in the Architecture (CAD/CAM), Engineering, Manufacturing, and non-clinical Medical Visualization industries to create, visualize, and modify datasets as large as city streets and as small as microscopic cells. Product:Thinkbox Deadline Version:10.1.17.4 Supported Architectures:x64 Website Home Page :www.awsthinkbox.com Languages Supported:english System Requirements:PC * Size:953.3 mb System Requirements This section covers the system requirements for all the Deadline components. Database Deadline uses MongoDB for the Database, and requires minimum MongoDB version 3.2.12 and maximum 3.6.21. The Repository installer can install the MongoDB database for you, or you can use an existing MongoDB installation. The following operating systems are supported when installing MongoDB through the Repository installer: - Windows Server 2012 and later (64-bit only) These are the minimum recommended hardware requirements for a production Database: - 64-bit Architecture - 8 GB RAM - 4 Cores - RAID or SSD disks - 20 GB disk space Note that MongoDB performs best if all the data fits into RAM, and it has fast disk write speeds. In addition, larger farms may have to scale up on RAM and Cores as necessary, or even look at Sharding their database. If you choose a non-Server Windows operating system (8.1 or 10) to host the database, you should be aware that these operating systems have a TCP/IP connection limitation of 10 new connections per second. If your render farm consists of more than 10 machines, it is very likely that you'll hit this limitation every now and then (and the odds continue to increase as the number of machines increase). This is a limitation of the operating systems, and isn't something that we can workaround, so we recommend using a Server edition of Windows. Repository The Repository is just a collection of files and folders, so it can be installed to any type of share on any type of operating system. Common Repository choices include: - Windows Server While the Repository can be installed on any operating system, the Repository installer is only supported on the following operating systems. To install on a different operating system, first create the network share on that system, and then run the Repository installer on one of the systems below and choose the network share as the installation location. - Windows (64-bit only) - Windows 8.1 and later - Windows Server 2012 and later For hardware requirements, it mainly depends on if you are planning to submit scene files and other auxiliary files with your jobs. If you are, keep in mind that the Repository machine will need to serve out these files to the Client machines, so you will want to treat it like another asset server when it comes to picking hardware. That being said, if you already have an asset server, you could probably just install the Repository on it. If you are not submitting your scene files with your jobs (because they are already stored in a network location), then you should be fine with a less powerful machine. If you choose a non-Server Windows operating system (8.1 or 10), these operating systems usually will not allow more than 10 incoming connections without purchasing additional user access licenses from Microsoft. This means that if more than 10 machines (render nodes or workstations) connect to the Repository, connections will be dropped, which could result unexpected behavior. This is a limitation of the operating systems, and isn't something that we can workaround, so we recommend using a Server edition of Windows. Client The requirements for today's rendering applications go far beyond the requirements of the Client, so if a machine is powerful enough to be used for rendering, it is more than capable of running the Client applications. If you choose to run Pulse or Balancer, and you wish to run it on the same machine as the Database and/or Repository, you will have to install the Client on that machine as well. The following operating systems are supported for the Client: - Windows (64-bit only) - Windows 10 - Windows Server 2012 and later Note that it is recommended to run your operating system LANGUAGE as "ENGLISH". This ensures that Deadline's stdout and popup handling work correctly, since their pattern matching is based on English translations. If you are choosing a machine to run Pulse, you should be aware that non-Server editions of Windows have a TCP/IP connection limitation of 10 new connections per second. If your render farm consists of more than 10 render nodes, it is very likely that you'll hit this limitation every now and then (and the odds continue to increase as the number of machines increase). This is a limitation of the operating systems, and isn't something that we can workaround, so we recommend using a Server edition of Windows. AWS Portal The AWS Portal feature requires the installation of a couple additional components: - The AWS Portal Link service. - The AWS Portal Asset Transfer System. These components can be run on the following operating systems: - Windows (64-bit only) - Windows 8.1 and later - Windows Server 2012 and later License Server Floating License Server For floating licenses, Deadline requires Flexnet License Server version 11.12 or later, and the license server can be run on the following operating systems: - Windows (64-bit only) - Windows 10 - Windows Server 2012 and later Note that if you choose a non-Server Windows operating system (Windows 10), you should be aware that these operating systems have a TCP/IP connection limitation of 10 new connections per second. If your render farm consists of more than 10 machines, it is very likely that you'll hit this limitation every now and then (and the odds continue to increase as the number of machines increase). This is a limitation of the operating systems, and isn't something that we can workaround, so we recommend using a Server edition of Windows.
