ÖSYM’den yapılan açıklamaya göre, 2011-Öğrenci Seçme Yerleştirme Sistemi (ÖSYS) tercih işlemleri de 25 Temmuz 2011 tarihinde başlayacak ve 5 Ağustos 2011 tarihinde saat 17.00’de sona erecek. Kılavuzlar başvuru merkezinde 2011-ÖSYS Yükseköğretim Programları ve Kontenjanları Kılavuzu, ÖSYM’nin “http://www.osym.gov.tr” internet adresinden yayımlandı. Kılavuzun basılı hali ise, başvuru merkezlerinde incelenebilecek. Adaylara kılavuz satışı yapılmayacak. Adaylar, tercihlerini doldurdukları Tercih Formu ve nüfus cüzdanı/pasaportları ile birlikte istedikleri bir başvuru merkezi aracılığıyla ya da internetten bireysel olarak yapabilecek. LYS'de, sınavlara giren toplam 2 milyon 19 bin 865 adaydan toplam 473'ünün sınavı geçersiz sayıldı. MF-1 ve MF-2 puan türünde Murat Kenan Erdal birinci oldu.
